What does the phone come with?
the new Jio Phone 4G comes with the entire plethora of applications supported by Jio. This first Jio branded phone comes preloaded with JioCinema, JioMusic, and JioTV, along with all the popular instant messaging and social networking apps.
The product is mainly aimed at all the 2G phone users who are yet to join Jio’s vast network. When and where to book?
Jio Phone testing started on the 15th of August and bookings start on the 24th of August. You can book your Jio Phone via the MyJio app, their official website, and authorized Reliance Jio offline retailers near you.
How to book?
In case you are booking the phone using the MyJio app,
- open the app and tap on the Prebook Now option
- provide your area’s pincode and your phone number
- tap Proceed option
With this, you will get a unique booking ID of your own on the app as well as an SMS notifying you on the same. You can refer to this ID or the SMS while picking up your order from the designated retailer.
In case you want to book for a friend or family member, all you need to do is put their respective phone number and delivery pin-code and make the payment. however, in this case, the booking ID message will be sent to both you and your friend/family’s mobile number, which they can later display while picking up their phone from the retailer.
Jio Phone Price and Delivery Date
As mentioned above, the phone is essentially free, but you have to make a refundable security deposit of Rs. 1,500 to “avoid potential misuse”. The payment is to be made in two installments; where Rs. 500 is to be paid while making the booking, and the remaining Rs. 1000 while picking up the mobile phone.
The delivery of the phone entirely depends on how early you book it, owing to the whole first-come first-serve rule that Reliance Jio is following. hence, if you wish to be among the first few people to land the new Jio Phone, make sure you book the phone as soon as bookings open. The company is looking to deliver 5 million units of the phone each week, but the demand is expected to be high; which means that there is no surety on when the deliveries would actually be made.
