For all the people that subscribe to Amazon Prime Video and have an Android smartphone or tablet, there’s some definite good news for you. Amazon has finally launched the Amazon Prime Video App on Android’s Google Play Store, paving the way for more portable online streaming.
Unlike before, where people had to go through a multi-step process to get the app from their Play Store, Amazon Prime Video users can now get the service directly from the Play Store.
Before this, Amazon had initially launched a Prime Instant Video App for Android tablets in 2015, but getting it hooked up on the tablets was never an easy job. With the new Amazon Prime Video App, it’s going to be an easy process. Users can download the app straight from the Play Store and stream unlimited videos on their mobile devices.
Previously, getting the app on your phone or tablet was nothing less of a hassle; users had to go through a bunch of steps in order to successfully install the app. The first step was to download Amazon Underground, before installing the Amazon Video App. However, life was simple for iOS users, as they could directly download the app from Apple’s App Store.
Earlier, speculations were doing the rounds that the Android version of the app was mostly designed for Amazon’s Fire services. It was also believed that the app only existed on Google Android devices with some reluctance, which would explain why Amazon made those users jump through hoops to get it.
However, all past speculations have been put to rest, and now you can easily download the app from your Play Store. In order to watch all your favorite shows and movies, all you need to do is download the app and login with your Amazon Prime account details. One important thing to note here is that the Amazon Prime Video app does not include Chromecast, so you cannot yet use it to beam movies and TV shows from Prime to your TV.
Is Amazon Prime subscription only for Amazon Prime Video app?
Apart from giving users access to services like Prime Video, Prime Music, and Prime Reading, a $99 yearly Prime membership gets you free, two-day shipping on all verified Amazon.com purchases, as well as unlimited photo storage via Prime Photos. Moreover, with a Prime subscription, you get early access to Amazon’s Lightning Deals, and now special discounts at Whole Foods. New members can try Prime for free for 30 days; after that, you’ll pay $99 a year or $10.99 per month for these benefits. If you plan to use it for any length of time, the $99 annual fee is a better deal. Happy Streaming!
